Or would that be my Suzanna?
Good question.
It’s a late start on me. Been a bit of a whirlwind day. Up a little late into the shower in an effort to be ready for a friend who was coming over for waffles before a song writing session that was for a tune that is essentially now finished and we’re now working on the demo. A threeway co-write with Brandon James, Femke Weidema, and myself. What’s it’s called? My Sweet 16.
A little ditty for that cherished day of turning 16 for a girl. We’ve got an artist in mind. One that is currently 15 and about to turn 16. It’s a tad edgier than her normal stuff. A little more grown up and certainly very melodic by comparison. Should be fun.
The process began this morning with a need to actually speed the tempo of the song up. Which wasn’t overly hard since it mostly meant the drums. Which had already been recorded at a different tempo. The beauty of Drums is that speeding them up without changing the pitch doesn’t harm the track the same way speeding up a guitar, vocal or other harmonic instrument would. That’s a good thing. So it’s actually a little blessing in disguise that I didn’t get to the recording of it yesterday. Now we have a vast majority of it done. Adding a few little things here and there, then doing a right proper mix on it and boom off I will go to see if I can get into the correct hands. We’ll see.
With that in mind, I’ve picked a young artist. Probably not as current as I’d like, but well, I gotta make due with what’s currently in the library. I guess part of my day kinda felt like I was attempting to get myself out of a paper bag. It could have had something to do with being a little beat from another day in the sun. Yesterday was fun in the fact that while out playing golf, Donovan and I were joined by a nice bloke who turned out to be Brian McKnight. There were moments of my game where I couldn’t hit the ball, but other moments where I made brilliant shots. Brian on the other hand, well lets say he’s a really damn good golfer along with his ability to sing.
A wild guess tells me that Anna probably couldn’t golf her way out of a paper bag, but I could be wrong. It’s a good thing that she writes some cool tunes and has a great voice. Don’t cha think?
Go get your paper bag anthem! Have a good finish to your weekend.
