In case you were under a rock and haven’t crawled out yet, Apple announced their new iPhone. Yeah, a music site/blog telling ya there’s a new iPhone coming. It was previewed yesterday at their WWDC event. To put it mildly it’s finally ready for prime time. Which is an exciting thing. I know it’s got me salivating because I’ve been waiting on many of the things they announced yesterday for two years now. Time for me to finally make the switch to the phone so many people that know me think I should have had quite some time ago.
Will I wait in line next friday? You’ll have to tune back in and find out.
In the meantime lets get to some music.
I’m nearing the finish line on the next song I’m working on for myself. It’s turning out really cool. One thing I’m adding today is samples of actual heartbeats from my own heart. I suppose that’s one way to make it even more personal. I’m not sure how often someone gets to play their heart as an instrument. I’m sure I’m not the first person to do it, and I’m sure I won’t be the last either.
One thing that is very much tied to heartbeats is breathing. The two kinda go hand in hand. Stan Harrison has a song called Breath After Breath. Definitely something that tends to happen up until the moment you die. You breath, breath after breath. It’s been a little while since I’ve had a jazzier song on Single of the Day. I must be feeling a bit jazzed by the Apple news and my new song.
I’m liking the flow that Stan has set up here in the song. Nice flowing melody nothing that is going to overtly challenge me and cause me to turn away. The rhythm is a bit different which I like. Along with the jazzier feel I’m getting tinges of fusion going on. In a way I’m sorta getting a vibe of Shawn Lane. That’s not a bad thing. I also like the way the song shifts focus from the piano to the sax. I also like the way different instruments begin to come in and out of focus.
If you’re diggin on Stan then get thyself to CD Baby or iTunes to buy and hear more.
