For those of you that celebrate the spirit of Christmas today marks the day after and the assessment of what kind of bandit you made out like. If the media reports are any actual indication it would seem a whole lot of Americans ended up getting I.O.U.s from Santa for gifts that are coming starting today. Retailers are supposedly having even bigger sales today in order boost profits. So much so that some media outlets are saying that the ‘new’ black sales day will come immediately after Christmas. That’s odd. Then again change is good.
I’ve been holed up in the studio so much recently that I haven’t been getting out to mountain bike as much as I’d like. My family got me a new bike rack for my car. That’s a pretty good reason to make sure I get my butt back out in the hills. In that respect I can’t wait to get back to LA in order to bust it out and make good use of it.
Game night should have some added fun with a classic set of dominoes. It’s probably from the 50’s or 60’s and the entire set is there. It’s stellar cool with it’s original packaging too. I got my first taste of playing dominoes over this past Thanksgiving. It was fun.
Another fun game that I got to experience is Pictionary Man. It takes Pictionary and Charades and combines them into a single game. Find it, I think you’ll enjoy it. I know I did.
Speaking of bandits…
If there is a band who is making out like a bandit right now it has to be Black Eyed Peas. Out on a major tour and having several hits from a disc that was released earlier this year. That’s a good thing, running legs of music. Can’t beat that. Which brings me to Boom Boom Pow. While I haven’t been a big Black Eyed Peas fan in the past, I’m slowly growing into one. Mostly because I’ve got co-writers who are looking at this disc The E.N.D. – Energy Never Dies (reminds me of a disc I released called E.A.R. – E.nergy A.udio R.evolution). Of course they have a lot more promotion going behind them so their release is making much bigger waves.
I actually really appreciate the creative use of technology that will.i.am is putting into his production. There is very obvious use of a lot of studio tools going on. The difference is that he’s not hiding the fact that he’s using them as many producers and artists tend to do. Especially the judicious use of Autotune (though it’s probably Melodyne that he’s getting that sound with).
Either way, they are creating feel good, get up and party type of music. That’s what’s helping them make out like Bandits. If you don’t have the CD, I recommend going out and getting it or dropping by your favorite digital store and picking it up.
