One thing about having the sun out and the rain put away is that it’s easier to get out of the house. Driving gets easier when not dealing with water. Staying dry is easier when water isn’t coming down from the sky. What does a person do when the sun comes out? For me, it’s a chance to meet up with friends and go for a quick hike or mountain bike ride.
Yesterday was a short hike up Runyun Canyon. I scooped the dogs into the car and met up with Femke to hike Runyun. We hadn’t seen each other in a while, so it was a little time to catch up and see what’s going on in the world according to the other. It also marked the first use of the Motion-X app in the current iteration of the iPhone that I have. Finally I have a fully working iPhone – oh the joy.
At one point in the hike, my mom’s dog who normally is a bit snappy at other dogs, was doing so well that I decided to let her off the leash. We got to the top of Runyun and suddenly she decides to trot back down the hill despite the fact the rest of us were heading in the other direction. I left Dorian with Femke and took off back down the hill chasing Mico and calling her name. About halfway down, she finally turned around by some other dogs and paid attention to me. I put her back on the leash and ran her back up the hill. So much more than a hike.
We sat at the top of the hill and looked out on a very clear day for LA – gotta love the rain as it washes the sky of the grey gunk and leaves one with the ability to see clear out to the ocean from Hollywood.
Later last night I ended up having dinner with my mom. Still later than that I was invited out to a club in Hollywood where the Black Eyed Peas were to be playing. Two trips to Hollywood in a day. I don’t do that very often. But thanks to my friend Jon I got the joy to be on the special guest list for a club when someone famous was to be performing. Right to the front of the line and in with no questions asked along with Russia joining the festivities. Gotta love that.
Free spirits, dancing, loud music and all kinds of people milling about. Eventually several members of the Black Eyed Peas showed up, but not as performers. Instead it was DJ time and they took turns spinning constantly evolving beats for the crowd to bounce up and down to. Apparently they’ve been doing it for a few weeks and that one time they were all there and performed. Who knows, maybe next week.
Makes me wonder if Imma Be is about the kind of person that isn’t really out doing but instead is only talking about doing. That didn’t stop the fact that people had a good feeling about having a good good night. There was a pretty darn good sized crowd for a Sunday night. Though the place began to empty out pretty quick right around 1:30 a.m. I suppose that the draw of the DJs from Black Eyed Peas was waning or the strong call of an early Monday morning might have been the reason.
Either way, it was a bouncing good time, much like the beat in this song as it gets it’s groove on. One thing I’m glad for last night is my use of ear plugs. Holy cow. I walked out of there noticing that when I pulled my plugs out, I still felt like I had been in a very loud room. So if there is one thing to say about the Black Eyed Peas, they know how to crank out the sound. Don’t ya think?
