You’d think that these two companies, one which is the most valuable company in the world at the moment, would have their proverbial shit together. Right now I’m writing a post that is in part a bit frustrated. I decided to update to the iPhone 4s via pre-order. The iPhone 4s arrived as it should have. However I’ve now been attempting to get activated so I can get on with my day and yet, I’m still without phone.
It took 2 hours to finally get word that I needed to chat with AT&T. Phone call with AT&T and I find that there’s an issue with upgrading to the iPhone 4s with a grandfathered unlimited data plan. Great. The helpful person at AT&T inputs some code into my account that should resolve the issue. Go to activate the phone and still no dice. Now I’m being told that the issue is not with AT&T and that I need to call Apple. I make the call to Apple. It takes 10 minutes for someone to come on the line and ask for the information that the automated service requested.
*** Side Note: Why the FUCK does a live person have to ask for this information if the automated system requires it to take the call?!? She then puts me back on hold. 10 minutes later the line clicks and I’m hung up on. What the fuck?!? Now I have to call back to Apple yet again and rack up over 20 minutes on hold without any human coming on the line. In fact it re-rang and suggested I call back later, then put me back on hold. ***
Apple, oh how I normally love thee, but right now you’re testing my patience. I’m supposed to be making phone calls. Thanks to you I’m unable to. Not to mention, I’m not keen on the fact that you’re not allowing iCloud syncing to Snow Leopard – you’re great OS that has no issues and isn’t run like an iOS.
*** Side Note 2: Finally get a human on the line, she’s now blaming AT&T for the activation issue. *** Someone own up to the fucking problem and stop blaming someone else.
Enough frustration. I’m going to get on with the music.
Seeing as how I don’t wish to promote ill spoken words for another artist, I’ll run one of my songs instead. I think I’ll play a song from my first CD with my band Amalgam. Makes sense since it’s called I Don’t Blame. It’s about not blaming someone else for the bullshit you cause or the trouble you create. It’s about taking responsibility for fucking shit up. Something it seems Apple and AT&T can’t do.
So as you’re listening, please take note, it’s a very admirable quality to own up to your failures and then actually correct them. Something a lot of people and companies don’t seem to be grown up enough to do.
