There’s one bonus to being pals with awesome musicians. You get to meet other amazing musicians and from time to time you get to meet other rockstars who are more famous than you. Such was the case last night. I got a call from my buddy Jeff to go out to eat at an LA hotspot known as Koi. Now one would think that being on the up and up in LA that I’d know Koi. That was a first and let me say that it was an amazing dining experience.
I’ve since learned that it’s the place to go and be seen. That wasn’t the idea when I went. It was to go and have a great time with an old friend and a couple of new ones. That’s what it ended up being a great time with a new group of friends. Mind you, I have no illusion that I’ll run into the new friends anytime soon, but we did find some common ground throughout the evening. We ski, we like a lot of the same movies and have similar views on gambling and music. Interesting and long dinner. And if you get a chance to eat there, it is nothing short of amazing!
Because of the nature of who I was hanging with I figured it would be fun to post today’s song. If you know who wrote it, you might be able to figure out who the dinner party might have been with.
I’ve never heard this version of this song, but upon hearing it I found it to be a fun interpretation of the original. Seeing as how distinct that Queen’s version is (actually any of their music) it’s a wonder that anyone can try to redo them. That’s what’s cool about this version. It’s interesting and fun.
I’m enjoying the alternate version. To me it’s fun and I think that’s the point behind this song in the first place. A tongue in cheek type of thing about full figured women.
I have half a mind to pass the song on to my friend to see what he thinks. I’m sure he’ll get a kick out of it as well.
