There’s nothing like a 3 day weekend from regular business that can throw a wrench into a deal. I was under the impression that I would be in an office talking numbers and looking over paperwork later today. However as of this morning confirmation has not come. Thus I’ll be spending a good portion of the day working on putting packages together to send out to other companies. That’s the beauty of a library, it’s a non-exclusive license. Thus the best thing is getting it out to every corner I can.
I was also hoping to catch a new episode of Heroes, but I discovered that last weeks show was the season finale. One word for that: LAME. Why is it that shows used to have 26 episodes a season and now we’re lucky if we get 13, or in some cases 6? Weird.
I’m also feeling a tad under the weather and must get rest, but as a musician a lot the time we don’t get to do that much if it’s a full time gig.
Even though it was a 3 day weekend, I’m already getting the sense that something is slightly askew with the world. So I’m thinking it’s a great time to imagine an escape. From somewhere down in the South Pacific comes Te Vaka. I don’t know what the name means. Heck I can’t even tell you what the title of the song means, I’m pleading ignorance. However, I can say that I really like the vibe of the song. I really like the flow of the song. I like the pattern of the vocals, the melody and the rhythm.
This is a case of where for me it’s entirely about the music and not about the story of the lyrics or the meaning of the words. Mostly because at this point, I don’t speak the lyrics language. That doesn’t stop me from enjoying the musicality of it though and that’s the real beauty in music. You don’t have to know the language to enjoy the sounds.
I will be exploring more of Te Vaka and who knows. There might come a day when I understand the words and get a deeper meaning to it all. How about you?
