I’m getting to a point where it will behove me to do another major round of backups of material that I’ve worked on for the past year. I really ought to do it when I finish each track, but I’ve been finding that once they’re finished, they may not be finished until I’ve marked them up for distribution or licensing. Once it’s there, then it’s time to archive. Trouble is, despite the fact that I haven’t released a ton of things, I have created a large amount of music.
I’m going to be burning DVDs today in order to send stuff off to my performance rights organization SESAC. Then it’s a trip to the post office and to UPS to ship things out. Once that’s done I’m going to frys to buy a spindle of blank DVDs as it’s time to start archiving. It’s gonna be a busy night. Weeeeee…
While I start staring at a computer screen for the rest of the day thinking about more music, I’m gonna leave you with a song called Hotel Room by The On Fires. I thought of it because of a girl I know who spends a lot of time in hotel rooms and has done so for at least a couple nights a week since I met her a couple of months ago. This one is for Bethany.
The On Fires are rocking it up Australian punk style. It’s straight up punk and you can tell they didn’t use any time correcting stuff as the tempo shifts around. I’m not usually favorable on hiccups in timing, but for someone reason it fits the attitude here. Once the whole band kicks in the vocals take over and things get a bit more fleshed out. The oddest thing I’m hearing in there is the organ, I wouldn’t normally associate an organ with punk music. But they’re making it work.
Give them a welcome mat and add it to your collection.
