Welcome to another Fallen Friday. Today we explore what is known as the 3rd eye. It’s a concept that goes pretty far back in history with probably the Egyptians. They believed you had the ability to see the soul with a 3rd eye. I suppose it was located in your forehead. Actually I’m pretty ignorant about the 3rd eye. So don’t take what I just said with any type of validity.
As for the band Third Eye Blind. I remember when they came out. I never felt they had much staying power. But I always enjoyed this song. It’s uptempo, simple and very catchy. In fact when I used to teach guitar lessons it became one of the first songs I used to teach others how to play some simple open chords. Why? Because it was easy to play. Easy to remember. Easy to strum. Thus it was a great way to get a student to feel good about playing a song really quick. That’s a great jumping off point.
Third Eye Blind has disappeared from public consciousness. But I do recall the name of Steve Jenkins. He’s made the jump to the big screen. He was also in the movie Rockstar. Hmmm… How many connections can be made back to that movie with this blog? I don’t care to venture a guess.
Regardless, if you don’t own this song, why?
(** Disclaimer: If Third Eye Blind’s label is planning on putting my two good eyes out, I’ll have to make the poke the audio off the server. The post will remain, cause I like simple sometimes. **)
