Lots of nutty shit happening lately in this world. One current fad of the media is the death of Anna Nicole Smith. It’s mind numbing. It’s unfortunate she passed away. I feel for that kid who has no idea what her life is going to end up being like. Who wants to expound upon the conspiracy theory that she was killed so that someone could get custody of that baby and the millions of dollars from an oil tycoon that should be hers to get?
Then we have the largest software company in the world attempting to strongarm computer users into hampered use of media. In case you didn’t know, Vista for all it’s bells and whistles will hamper your ability to use HD media and audio. Especially if it doesn’t fit hardware or ID references that Microsoft deems worthy. There’s lots of things happening under the hood of that OS that would piss you off if you knew about them.
More bombs going off in Iraq. Death toll climbing. Russian soldiers now being exploited as male prostitutes. Iran threatens anyone that dares to enter their country – mainly the U.S. A woman kidnaps another woman who is pregnant, then attempts to cuts her kid out with a razor blade. The Grammys acceptance awards didn’t seem motivated by the music. An editorial piece in a university paper is blasted for sick humor about rape. Bombs in Lebanon.
Then to top it off, last night some teenager in Utah decides to go into a mall with a shotgun and start blasting people at random. The news is reporting 5 people dead. Interestingly when you listen to the people actually there it would seem the death toll to be higher. Watching a clip from CNN, they had an interview with someone who saw the first person shot in the parking lot. Instead of going for help this person went to the injured, covered him with a jacket and prayed for him. Mind you, I think it’s all well and good that you’d say a prayer for someone if you think it will work. But what happened to making a phone call for the police or paramedics?
My mom used to own a store in that mall. I spoke with her last night when I heard about the shooting. All she could say was, she’s glad she doesn’t have a store there. Then she made an observation that she believes people are becoming more violent lately. I’m not sure I agree with it. I think the media isn’t finding rating with the good sameritan stories they were doing, so it’s bad to the violence for the ratings.
Wait, that doesn’t top it off. There’s one more thing from yesterday. As I was getting home from running errands and helping a friend with a computer issue, there was a commotion down the street about a block away. A high speed pursuit ended at a major intersection near my house. All the news helicopters and a police helicopter, as well as an army of police vehicles additionally fire and paramedics. I heard the accident, and with all the helicopters and sirens it felt like it could have been a war zone. What do I do? I stop what I’m doing to walk out of my neighborhood to go see the aftermath. What possesses us to do such things?
In light of that, I figured this was the perfect song for today.
(** Disclaimer: If Papa Roach’s label decides their not happy with my relation of music and murder, then I’ll have to kill the audio on the server. The post will remain to remind me of this moment in time. **)
That song is really cool! Thanks for promoting it!
Yup, it’s a fun song.
