It’s the big day for Music! Today is THE grand event of the year for music. The music industry’s equivalent of the Oscar. The Grammys are tonight. The large TV event where music is awarded itself for its existence. As a recently new member to the Recording Academy’s ranks I’m probably gonna see this telecast in a different light. Especially since I’ve now been to a couple of Grammy events in the past couple of weeks.
Due to my recent joining – roughly a month ago, I missed throwing my $0.02 in for the voting. I have met some good people already. I look forward to the process for next year. I’m also looking forward to finding out how I can be submitted for consideration. For as much as some musicians like to pan the Grammys, it’s still an amazing event. I’m betting that getting a nomination makes one feel like they’ve accomplished something big. I suppose I should ask my buddy Zak Morgan. He’s got one.
While I make my plans for where I’ll go spend some time watching the event, I will leave you with today’s Single of the Day. Mr. Bob Sima has a very relaxing ditty that really speaks volumes. Comparing to the TV show I spoke of in the previous paragraphs, there are several hours of awards that most of the world won’t see. It’s a day long event, yet they only show the most popular acts. Hey, that’s entertainment for ya.
The two things that stick out for me in this song are the Piano, Bob’s voice and his backing singer. Shoot, me, that’s three things. I’m really enjoying her harmonies. Their voices blend extremely well. The piano ads a really nice sense of space on the periphery of the song. It works!
Need a reminder to expand your view? Send Bob a note and tell him you want the song on iTunes. In case you’re wondering how I found out about Bob… Fran Snyder over at www.concertsinyourhome.com enlightened me.
This is one of my favorite songs ever. Please please please make it available for download somewhere!
