Coming down from the after Christmas high. It’s always a trip to get nice gifts from people, and of course to see the look on people’s faces on the gifts you give them. On of the best is my Grandma. I’m prone to giving her oranges from my tree in LA. Fresh picked oranges. She’s always got a great look of surprise when she gets them. I also know that she loves them. Who doesn’t love fresh oranges?
My mom can now compete with her sister in computer screens. Who knew that grownups still compete? My sister can now drink her coffee from a piece of art and my dad can print and scan (maybe he’ll get back into illustration). It’s a good thing.
Being that I do have a rather large extended family that gets together for the holidays it’s always fun to see the offspring of family getting gifts in our exchanges. They run around all excited. It’s fun. It’s like having that moment where they can be seen or stared at and not feel self conscious.
What did you get? Anything great? Anything good? Anything useful? Did you get the heart of a new loved one? Keep the heart of an old loved one?
My buddy Greg shares the same religion that a vast majority of my extended family. So it’s kinda funny to know this song and it’s lyrics. Usually, from my experience, it’s not an up front quality of Mormons to want to be stared at. At least not like animals in a zoo. I mean think about that tiger yesterday. Darn thing mauled it’s keeper a while back and now the thing has escaped from the zoo it was in in San Francisco. Whoa, wacky tangent. Back to the task. As I was typing, it’s more normal for them to be reserved.
Greg is a cool dude. I met him a couple of years ago through Just Plain Folks. A big songwriting organization. We got to be pretty good friends. We even sat down to write a song and somewhere in his possession is a boombox recorded tape of that song. Unless he’s lost it. I like Greg’s pop sensibility. I have the feeling if he had a top notch producer he would have exploded on the scene. Then people would certainly have had something to stare at him for.
Trip on over to the CD link to listen to more of the CD. I know you’ll find more songs to make your body groove. I’m sure of it. Then I’m thinking you’ll find yourself plopping down for the whole CD and not just this song. Once you do that. Go share your find with the world. Don’t forget to send a message to Greg and tell him I sent ya!
