If there is one thing I dislike – it’s a person or business that gives you a deadline, then totally blows it off. For the past month and a half I’ve been given the blow off for something that should have been finished to be handed in at the end of July. Now it’s coming up mid September and yet, I’m still no closer than I was in mid July. This morning I got a text stating I needed to be patient. I’ve yet to reply as I need to let my disappointment and anger subside.
Under-promise, over-deliver. That’s the best motto any of us humans can live up to. Hell, the people I’m waiting on even stated that to me back in early July. However it appears that they can’t live up to their own motto. If I wasn’t so entangled in the situation I’d tell ’em to fuck off. Unfortunately I can’t do that. But what I can do is get annoying. Which is what I did this morning – which is what got the “be patient” response.
I wonder what sparked the idea behind this song Patience by Guns N Roses. Seriously, at what point in life do you have to make someone wait? Is it due to ineptness? Lack of balls? Can’t admit a fault? Can’t own up to knowing you fail? Most of the time in relationships that aren’t business, it’s because one person becomes afraid to hurt another. So rather than make themselves happy and break it off and move on, they let things mire hoping it will come around or that the other person will finally speak up and end it.
When it comes to business it’s usually a power trip. Pure and simple. Wanting power over someone else, to make them wait. Lame.
While this is not one of my favorite GNR songs, it’s about the only song I could find that described the sentiment being directed at me. And not out of love.
Hope your day is going better and that you’re not being asked to wait and be patient on something after over a year.
