This past weekend was a bit more relaxing. No gnarly hike. Though I did do more of the P90X workouts. While I did fire up some stuff in the studio I didn’t press myself to finish it. Instead I decided to relax a bit. Do a little yard work. Meet with some friends. Cook some nice meals. Chill. Watch some movies. Play with the dog. Typical stuff away from work.
Today it’s back to getting on the ball. Some stuff that needs to be done for taxes. Making phone calls to see about getting music working in some more avenues. Need to pick up some things for the bathroom to help finish the new look. I may very well have a functional bathroom again today for the first time in over a month.
Nothing like having someone give you an estimate of time on a job and then completely blow it off. I was told a week, it’s turned into two months. Going forward, anytime I end up hiring a contractor, builder, etc… There will be a clause that says – if you finish on time, you get paid the agreed amount, if you finish ahead of schedule without cutting corners, you get a bonus above the agreed amount, and if you finish behind schedule, for every day over, you start losing money from the agreed amount. I get the feeling that this could be the only way to give a contractor incentive to get shit done. Actually I get the feeling it would give a lot of people good incentive to get shit done.
Ok, so the weekend is over and it’s time to move on to the music and get on with my tasks at hand. The band is Summerfield. They’re a young group. Literally. Summer is 15 and her cohort is 20. At least that’s what I’m told in the press release that I got. I did listen to several of the songs and this one is the diamond in the rough, Won’t Lose Out On Me. Overall I think it’s a little premature, it’s not quite what I’d be checking out as a whole act. There’s talent there that still needs to be honed, but this song is the one that is catchy and pretty much ready to go.
If you’re excited by finding someone who needs more polish before they make it big, this is an artist or rather an act to keep an eye on.
I also think that the idea of not losing out on oneself is a good one. Despite my relaxing weekend not being about work, it still was about having some me time. Let’s face it, we all need some of that sometimes.
Have a great day!
