I like to think of myself as a helpful guy. I’m currently helping out a couple of people with a place to stay, one of whom is helping me in turn with doing work on the house. However, sometimes doing this opens me up to problems. Seems someone is now helping themselves to my food without asking. That to me is a problem, especially when I know what I eat, how much I eat, and buy much healthier edibles than those who are staying with me. When confronted, both parties claim no knowledge that something is missing, let alone saying that they’re taking anything.
Same thing happened with my alcohol cupboard. I came home one night to have a drink with a friend, only to find all my alcohol had been consumed or ‘evaporated’ without my consent. Oddly enough after I had brought it up, what little alcohol was left has remained untouched. Go figure.
I’m pretty cool about things if it’s brought to my attention and requested. However, taking something then not owning up to it. That plain irks me to no end. Pure and simple.
Do you do this?
If so, why? What do you gain?
To this end I have to go with a song that would seem backwards to what I’ve just written about. It’s called Defined by What We Steal. The band is Big Wreck. They’re no longer around which is a shame. They had talent. They had great songwriting chops. Maybe they also had a problem with too many people stealing their music. I don’t know. I bought the CD when I had found out about them, which was after they disbanded.
I will ask that if you’re loving the music, you too should be encouraged to purchase the music through legal means to make sure the artist is getting paid.
