It’s no state secret that I’ve been working my ass off on a musical library to license for use in commercials, film and TV. To that end I’ve been working on the website for this small monstrosity. I’m finally sitting down today with one of my sales reps so that I can go over the output of the search function, along with the search function itself. Partly it’s because over the holidays I was given a very large list of things to look over for the search of the music.
I anticipate that I’ll be working on this for a lot of hours. But before I get to it I’ve been tasked with going through my own catalog to pick out my favorite songs to send to a friend who has a plan. That plan is still a little vague but it involves assembling the best of my best. So we’ll see what happens. While I run off to fill my day, I’ll leave you with today’s song pick.
It’s Ian Axel with This Is The New Year. It’s a sleeper of a hit. The beginning is quiet and unassuming. Once the drums start to kick in the song really takes off. Ian’s voice is high, thin, and soft, yet listenable. While I think the sentiment of providing the world to someone else is a novel idea, I would really enjoy taking the world and regive it.
I like the movement of the piano in the middle of the song. I like how the energy really takes off each time the drums kick in. This is a classic build the song as it goes type of thing and it works in a wonderful way.
Go forth and have a fantastic weekend.
Oh, and pick up Ian Axel.
p.s. – I’m a little surprised that he doesn’t have his own domain for a website.
