There’s one thing in the weather pattern in LA that announces a shift in the two seasons we have here. That thing is wind. Often referred to as the Santa Anas. The past couple of days has given Southern California a blast of wind. Right in time for Halloween.
Yesterday was a good day for music and the studio. 🙂 I had a great rehearsal for a gig I’ve got tomorrow for singing on a video game. Got the melody and new lyrics together and worked it out with the other singer. Afterwards it was a good lunch with a co-writing buddy.
Late afternoon found me back in the studio staring at a track that I know I want to finish, but also had a project that opened up where I needed to archive a slew of DVD backups. Thus I put the music aside for a few hours to spend time cataloging several hundred backups. Good thing there is a way to do that on a computer. Still it’s a lot of information.
A friend of mine called out of the blue and stopped by for a few hours. We went for a quick tea sit. Then watched a bit of a movie called Ondine. It was a good break.
Knowing that I need to get this lullaby track finished in a couple of hours I need to get rolling with the rest of this post. Thus the song you’re hearing right now comes from Cal Payne. It’s a little outside the standard Jazz sound, don’tcha think?
The instrument that is jumping out at me in the recording is actually the horn. Probably why it’s the featured instrument. It’s the one that seems to fit in best with what’s going on. Then again, it’s also Cal that is playing it. Not that anything else is bad. It’s that I’m feeling the horn best.
Right now I would like to be on cruise control as I’m juggling all these different things and getting them done. As it is, I’m allowing myself to be paid what I’m worth and it’s making a good difference. I think it’s a great thing and getting that to the point where it’s on cruise control is the goal.
Have a great day!
