Yesterday was a lengthy day in terms of running around. Editing vocals on a CD that I’m working on. Mailing stuff out. Then attending a seminar on recording followed by seeing a friend play a show at a little joint not too far from my house. Ending with more editing. It was the course of being at the show where I met some new people. Got into a conversation with the opening artist who coincidentally had heard of me thru a mutual friend. Bryan Conner is a talented singer/songwriter. I also met an interior designer by the name of Maya with who I spoke at length about a small little hiking canyon in Utah. She had been there and had asked me if I knew about it and sure enough I had and I have been there too. Beautiful place.
Another band that I saw after my friend Randy Coleman play was Mon Chéri. The band who’s tune you’re hearing right now. It’s called San Francisco. What I really liked about them is their arrangement. The two singers stood up front side by side slightly facing each other. It reminded me of a band like the Everly Brothers might have been like or maybe even the Beatles. They definitely play up that old school style vibe in their music and it really works. A tune with a smile. A real charm for the venue that I saw them in. Check them out.
p.s. – they’re playing tonight at the Viper Room in Los Angeles. If you’re in town then head on down to see them. You’ll enjoy it.
