If there is one thing that can be a downside dealing with a corporation, it’s the waiting.
I’ve been dealing with a deal for a library of music for a very long time now. It’s stupid how long it’s taken. It’s constantly, next week. Call in a couple of days. We’re waiting on our bean counters to free up the cash. The proposal isn’t perfect yet. Over and over.
It’s ridiculous.
In the meantime, the music has been getting out to other businesses. Some expressing good interest, others, not so much. The good thing is I’m working with someone who is very good at finding the leads and that I have to be thankful for.
Also gotta love waiting on people that owe you money. Same story, tomorrow, next week, end of the month. ARGH.
All of which is leading me to writing a song called “Waiting on One Thing.” I’ve about got the demo of it finished. However, while you wait on the edge of your seat to get a chance to hear that, I’ll leave you with today’s choice – Crying, Waiting, Hoping by Buddy Holly. I must be on a classic early rock kick as of late. While Buddy is singing about a girl. I think some of it would apply to the people that break promises when it comes to business and money as well.
Being the early rock that this is, you’ll hear the room the guitar is recorded in. Mainly panned left, but there is resulting reverb on the right. These are the kinds of things you don’t hear much in recordings done today. With all the compressing and squashing we do now, we tend to over control the sound as it moves about.
Buddy also had a great way of combining country with bebop, rock, and a lot of energy. His voice worked well for the slight twang to work over the adventurous beats of the time he was coming out. If you’re a youngin like me and haven’t explored his work, it’s time to get the collection.
