Ah the lazy day after Thanksgiving. Lazy if you’re not going to be an early bird shopper. Thus for me it’s a lazy day. After members of the clan went out for an early morning shop we went to the ocean off the coast near a spot called Goat Rock. It’s a cool little spot that quite a few people had found.
We stopped and contemplated doing a little rock climbing, though didn’t. A little further up the road we walked along the beach. My sister’s boyfriend’s mom had to get a picture of her feet in the ocean. While he was getting the picture of her doing it, a rather large wave came up from behind and came barreling in.
The wave caught her off guard. Knocked her over and started to pull her out. He ran out to grab her, as did my sister. Not more than 10 minutes before that incident I had taken a picture of a sign at the beach that said: Surf Unsafe, Sleeper Waves, Rip Current – DANGER. Shortly thereafter at the bathroom my mom got a picture of a sign that said: Don’t stand with your back to the ocean. She had a great sense of humor about it, despite getting completely soaked. It was certainly funny.
Because it was a day at the ocean I figured it would be a good idea to have a song showcased about said body of water. I know there are several bands famous and not famous with songs about the Ocean. Here is one by a band called King’s X. One thing I really like about King’s X is their killer sense of groove and harmony. They are a rare breed of band that tends to be favored by other musician’s more than the general public. It’s very sad. They are so ridiculously musical in a good way. I suppose the tough part is finding that connection that says hit song. King’s X tends to be a bit more complex in a good way.
I highly recommend checking out their catalog, it’s rife with hidden gems. So many great songs with a great flow. A large number of original ideas as well.
