If there is anything about the music business that is less fun than contracts and agreements I don’t know what it would be. Today I’ll be meeting up with a couple of co-writers with the intent of getting the business end of some songs we’ve written squared away.
As I was chatting with a close friend last night I made the comment of how I can’t understand why honesty is so hard for people. Whereas she has been burned numerous times by people who are not honest. I guess I figure things will always work themselves out – however, that’s a bit naive sometimes. I realize you have to ask for what you want and what you’re willing to negotiate for when it comes to business. Though I do have a friend that I’ve been working with this year and everything has been an easy process, no hassles. We split it even, no arguments, and it’s all good and everyone is happy. All business should be that simple.
Anyway, I’m in need of getting out the door to do meeting. Thus I will leave you with today’s pick.
In thinking about what I’d rather be doing other than dealing with contracts, I think this song’s lyrics would suffice. At first I thought it was going to be a bit of jazzy cover version of the famous rock song. However, once it started, I knew it had nothing to do with that. It’s a very mellow jazz song by Rochelle House.
Stirring brushes on the drums, a stand up bass, a little piano and lilting vocal all comes together to give this tune a bouncy but mellow vibe.
Feeling it? Go get it!
