Being that my Land Rover died, I’m now driving a different car. An Audi A4. It’s quite nice. Though I have been needing to get a few things checked out. One is the brakes. For some reason the brakes have a strange noise in them once I hit 30 mph. Into the shop I go again today. While there I end up going to lunch with my buddy Robert and talking about the night before. He wasn’t able to attend the meeting/seminar for the library music thing. He was the reason I went so I relayed what happened.
The car was done when I got back and they were unable to solve the issue of the noise. The fantastic thing is they know me so well that they decided not to charge me since they couldn’t solve it. Gotta love that. Though the noise is not as bad as it was, it’s not gone. Oh well. They asked me to give it a few hundred miles to see if it goes away before bringing it in again. As far as they can tell the brakes are working perfectly fine. Very strange indeed.
What could be useful right now is some rain. Which leads me to Turin Brakes and their song Rain City. It’s a mellow number. The vocals almost sound unisex. Hard to say if it’s male or female. I’m guessing that’s what they’re going for. The acoustic guitar drives the tune as the synth in the background lays down a space and groundwork. The vocals tower over the rest of the song. Very dynamic.
I can imagine drops of rain falling down cooling off the air in LA. Wouldn’t it be nice?
This definitely feels like a soundtrack song for a little brake from the world. Add it to your collection.
