How often do we hear about time related issues. There’s timed sales, or limited time offers, or your bills are due and you’ve run out of time to pay them. With other people time can make or break a relationship. Wounds tend to heal in time. Some take longer than others. Over the course of time we age. At least that’s the general plan.
I’m sure there’s one thing about me that can drive friends nuts. If I’m given a deadline I don’t like to go past it. More the opposite, I like to get things done long before time is up. Thus when it comes to writing a song where there is a deadline I have a hard time with a co-writer that ends up breaking plans to finish it. I become a task master in a way. Constantly pushing to get said item done. Especially when there is a goal.
Today is one such day. I’ve been attempting to finish a recent song with a co-writer that should have been done two weeks ago. However, she has had more than once changed the plan. We’ve made plans to record the last needed parts and several times it’s been cancelled last minute. That type of thing drives me nuts.
What’s interesting is that friends who get used to my pushing to finish something end up appreciating the fact that I push and strive to do it. Additionally they appreciate when I present so many angles to see the path to destination.
I wonder what happens when time runs out. I would dislike being mid project and then end up being unable to finish.
How do you feel about it?
That brings me to a song called: Summertime. Why? Because summer time is running out. Less than 20 days from now it will be fall for most of the northern hemisphere. Though here in LA it will still be sunny warm for a long while. This upcoming Labor Day weekend is also akin to the last bash of the summer as well. In some years past I’ve made a trip to the river with friends. This year many of us have fled to different parts of the country, well, more like they did.
Brother Love has got a really fun song about the youthful nature of being with friends in the heat of summer. It’s got a snappy beat and whole lot of fun production. I know that I really enjoy this song as it was recorded. It would be really interesting to hear how Brother Love pulls it off live.
Maybe next summer I’ll get to see that. Who knows.
In the meantime, if you’re looking to hold on to some last remnants of summer, this is perfect addition to your musical library to have. Go get it!
