Last night after my time with friends talking shop, I was out in LA at a meeting for composers and lyricists. I pulled into the parking lot and got out of my car wondering why there was a pungent smell of radiator fluid. Walking around front I witnessed my car spewing it’s cooling contents all over the parking lot. Seems a hose decided to spring a leak. Well, more than a leak, it was as if the hose was knifed by a big game hunter.
I texted a couple of nearby friends to see about getting some duct tape or something while I was in the meeting. Finally I had a couple of friends ready to help, but it was then determined that it wouldn’t work to tape the hose. Instead another friend had AAA and got them to come tow the car to my mechanics place.
There’s where my day begins. Of course, I’m in the studio able to work, but I’m supposed to be elsewhere this afternoon and it’s further than a simple bike ride to get there. Now comes the fun of attempting to find a temporary ride. My mechanic will have the car done today, which is a great thing.
Let’s get to the music, so that I can then go and get to the music I need to be working on myself.
Since it’s a car kinda day, I think I will go with a car theme. I’m going with an older era song when music did have a lot to say about things in life like a car. This Car of Mine by the Beach Boys. They had the summer and car sounds locked up tight. Pretty much any song that is known in music history about summer and cars is in their catalogue. Of course it’s long before my time to know of their material, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t know about it.
It’s classic. ‘Nuff said.
Don’t have it? Go get it!
