Today is kinda like a day off. Though it’s not really a day off. I’ll be hanging with a bunch of songwriters at a special event put on by SESAC. It’s called the songwriter’s bootcamp. A day long seminar that talks about different subjects and educates artists on anything new going on in the music business. It’s a lot of information to take in in a day. The great reason for going is the networking and being able to meet cool people that may turn into new co-writers or contacts.
Last year proved fruitful which is why I’m making the time to go again.
Because it’s about the idea of moving and shakin, I’m going to leave you with an older tune by Wes Montgomery called Movin’ Along. Which is exactly what I’ll be doing today with people in the creative industry.
I’m tickled by the nature of the song. Wes had such a distinct sound for guitar, though here we’re being treated to some cool flute playing. Of course it gets followed by a tasty guitar solo. All played over a swinging beat and piano part. It’s jazzy, it’s heady, it’s cool. It’s also about time that I put some jazz up here for a change. Expand!
Go get it now. You won’t regret it.
