One the things in life that make it worth living are the times when you get to hang with your friends that you enjoy being around. Last night and this morning were two such moments in time for me. Last night I had dinner and drinks with my friends Donny and Jesse. Donny’s wife Hope made us dinner. It was roaring good time. Seems it was supposed to be a ‘boys’ hang but Hope’s friends bailed on her last minute. Not a total loss as she’s plenty able to hang with the testosterone due to the antics of Donny. He’s a pure comic. Could likely make a living doing standup if he ever wanted to change careers.
We gathered for some pasta, chicken and wine. Once the drinking ensued it was all downhill from there. Well, not really downhill but rather a fun ride thru a game of Balderdash. I’m beginning to think Jesse knows the answer to every card in the Balderdash game. Both times I’ve played it with him, he has ruled the roost on it. Not by a small margin either. More wine, more fun. Which was a little rough on the wake up this morning.
Breakfast this morning was a little different in mi casa today. My friend Femke was coming over for some help with some drum things before she had to trip to Malibu for the afternoon. While chatting online we realized we hadn’t had breakfast so I offered to make breakfast for the two of us. One of my waffle mornings for a nice relaxing saturday. It was fun to have company for breakfast. To sit outside enjoy the morning with some fresh squeezed OJ from my tree with waffles and bacon. Yum. Good conversation, good times, nice and relaxed. Great way to start the day.
While I was actually doing hangs at Donny & Hope’s and my house in the past 24 hours, I’m fine with this little ditty that came up in a search of my iTunes library called Hanging at Tom & Rita’s by a group called the Hellecasters. I have to hand it to this group of guitar masters, they have come up with a tune that really sonically describes what my vibe was like in the past 24 hours with both hangs. Nothing overly adventurous, but rather laid back and fun.
You can hear that coming thru in the guitar parts going on. It certainly helps that the drummer and the bassist aren’t excessively driving the train too fast but rather keeping the flow and holding the support beams up for the guitars to meander around in the melodies they’ve created.
The Hellecasters have several albums, if you haven’t explored them, it’s probably high time you have. Go get the song now!
