Ah the old saying of Cats and Dogs. I think the most famous is: It’s raining cats & dogs. Then there’s they don’t get along like cats & dogs. There are probably others but they escape me right now.
Yesterday was strange for me. I was productive musically, but then I got diverted. I was called by Femke to visit her while she waited for some new recording gear to arrive. I also got called by Jan who asked if I was going to a song pitch event not far from my house. Of course they both caught me at the right time, I had finished a cue and needed a little break.
Off in the car I went to visit with Femke. We spent some time chatting and surfing the net. Eventually it led to a discussion about things that only great friends would talk about (thus I’m not printing it here). After her gear arrived she got excited to try it out and kicked me out. All well and good as I needed to travel back to my digs for the song pitch. I was late, but was able sneak in for the last 30 minutes. I heard some material that was funny and that’s what you’re listening to right now. I spent a little time hobnobbing with people who were there and then got invited to an impromptu dinner with a group of the people at the song pitch thing.
Long dinner that stretched to almost two hours. So much for getting more music done last night.
Anyway, I met Sabrina and Craig last night after hearing this song. It’s quirky, it’s definitely funny when you’re listening to the lyrics and it’s great for kids. Of course I’m still a kid and like fun things as much as the next person. Which is part of the reason why I made it a point to meet Craig and Sabrina. Upon meeting Sabrina I had to ask her if she had a sister as she looks exactly like a friend of mine’s wife, Nancy. However, she is not related. Cue the Twilight Zone music – do de do doo, do de do doo.
The great thing about this song is despite the funny lyrics and the imagery, there is a metaphor for life that can’t be missed. It’s so nice to hear a song that can be many things on different levels and this achieves that quite well.
It’s not on iTunes but you can contact Sabrina and Craig to find out how you can get their songs or see them play.
Enjoy your sunday, I’m off to record more music.
