A lot of the northern half of our globe is beginning to experience the colder weather that would constitute temperatures capable of leaving precipitation in frozen form on the ground. Rather it’s higher than the half. Here in Los Angeles we’re still getting the balmy days, but the evenings are cooling off a bunch. Not to the point where I’m needing a jacket yet, but other people are definitely walking around with them on.
I took in a movie last night and my buddy Mike came out with his winter coat on. More than him, there were others dressed in overcoats and such. Being cool out, I liked the slight chill in the air. Being dressed in a t-shirt without a coat kinda left me as the odd person out. Oh well.
Despite the love/hate relationship that I have living in southern california, I do miss seasons and snow. There’s a cool feeling about traipsing around in the white fluff. Though I can remember one instance where I have a bad memory of snow, or rather extreme cold temperature. A day where I wasn’t appropriately dressed on a winter day. To make matters worse I got locked out of the house. Waiting in the cold got pretty painful. Not fun as a school kid.
On the flip side, I have numerous memories of massive fun in snow. Whether it’s with friends, family or loved ones, when you’re having fun the cold isn’t nearly as much of a problem. Which is the subject matter of today’s selection. The Eurythmics are known as an 80’s synth pop band. I suppose at this point they’ve become a bit of a classic. When you’ve got songs like Sweet Dreams being covered by Marilyn Manson… Well you’ve probably hit a point where you’re more than cool, but you’re also classic.
Annie Lennox is one hell of a singer. She continues to release new albums. I’m not sure about Dave, the other half of the Eurythmics, but I have the feeling he’s still very much involved in music. How could you not if you have that much influence on a generation, right?
I’m very much looking forward to enjoying the white fluff and skiing on the stuff. How about you?
