The guilty pleasure. The other night I was out late chatting with friends when someone mentioned they had a guilty pleasure of listening to a certain kind of music that was popular in the 80’s. Another friend piped in to say, why call it a guilty pleasure? You like it, it makes you feel good, run with it and don’t feel guilty. I couldn’t agree more. Especially when it comes to music.
Such is said, I suppose there are a great deal of songs I’ve put here that could be construed as guilty pleasures.
While I’m about to go make use of my voice for some other things including music, I figured I’d prop up a band out of the state of New York (my birthplace). In the style of say a modern version of Cheap Trick, I’d go about giving The Crash Moderns two thumbs up if I were Roger Ebert. Cheap Trick is certainly one of my fav’s. I’ve seen them many times live. They are probably one of THE loudest bands ever. I would think that if the The Crash Moderns wanted to make a big lasting name, it would be wise for them to turn up the volume live.
I could imagine them hopping around stage cranked to 15 and blasting out like Green Day packing Cheap Trick in the back of the bus. The Crash Moderns have a really nice, clean, crunchy, punk pop kind of vibe to me. The recording is top notch and the production certainly helps the power of the song. I can hear the room of the drums which is wild in a song like this. The guitars sit nicely and fill up the spectrum. The vocals are perfectly comp’d and tuned. The harmonies blend in just right. It all fits together nicely. It’s par for the course.
Go have a great time and get This Time.
