Sometimes I have to wonder about things. Single of the Day is a little project that I started on a whim because I happen to have purchased the domain. I think I had originally wanted to start a digital delivery system for music. I was forward thinking. Then iTunes kinda put a stop to that plan. At this point though, I’ve been seriously wondering what people really do think about Single of the Day.
The odd thing to me is that people will be extremely vocal about something when they hate it. Hate seems to bring out vocalness. When something is brilliant we tend to gloss over it. Why is that? Maybe I’m going through one of those “It’s a Wonderful Life” moments where you wonder if you truly make any kind of difference in the world.
My whole goal in music has always been to be me. What’s your goal?
I’ve had artists who have been featured here that have been extremely thankful. That is really cool. Especially now that I’m reaching over a thousand readers a day. It’s all got to be word of mouth since I don’t heavily advertise the blog. Though I suppose it would be a good idea to do so. So I’m open to suggestions from you the reader on great ways to expand the blog. I think it’s time to start growing it beyond the root structure I’ve given it.
With that I’m going to get into the song. When it first came on I was thinking nice intro. Then the music kicks in and I got a flavoring of Led Zeppelin. Then I felt it was being sprinkled with a very spanish flavor. So I imagine this is what the Zep would have come up with having visit Spain or something.
Then the voice came on and it felt familiar. So I dug a little deeper and found out it’s Robin McAuley. If you’re not versed in your 70’s and 80’s metal bands or even some of the 90’s offshoots then you’d not likely know the name. I’ve heard of him because he sang with Michael Schenker. Here’s a little history there: Schenker played in The Scorpions a famous german pop metal band. Then he did a solo thing and a project with Robin. Since I have an affinity for old school metal that’s how I know.
Besides, I’m probably still enjoying the Single of the Day from friday. The one by Def Leppard. So I’m just extending that rock kick. You enjoying it too? Good, go get it!
Oh and offer a vision or two you’d like to see from Single of the Day.
