There’s nothing like visiting the dentist. I remember being numbed up for fillings and I remember it hurt. Well, this new dentist has a much better technique. It never hurt to be numbed. I didn’t feel anything he did, but I heard it. Having a drill on your teeth is the probably the worst sound in the world. What makes it worse is that you can’t wear earplugs to reduce it as it’s coming through the bone in your jaw.
The beauty is, I’ve got a temp crown and in a few hours my mouth will come back to usability. I can’t wait to eat without worrying about it.
In the meantime I’ll be working on some guitar parts for a song I’m working on with Heather Bradley. Then I’ll be slaving over some lyrics on another one of the songs I’ve got going. It’s work with the numb mouth day. What’s the reason we get into music? the opposite sex? Something higher? Is there anything higher?
We all know that attempting to the please the opposite sex or rather an attractive mate of either sex depending on your desires, can be a tad upending. It can make you happy, excited, confused, and blue. Hence the reason for today’s choice. A blues song about little ladies. The song is actually about having a kid. But little ladies grown into little girls and into little women. Me personally I prefer a slightly taller woman. My friends all joke with me about how I’d like to date someone above the height of 5’10”. They think I’m weird, but I attribute it to the fact that they aren’t that tall themselves. Hell, I’m 6’4″.
Getting back to the song. This is a straight ahead blues tune in terms of structure. The funny thing about it is it has a happy message and an upbeat flavor. Which technically is very odd in relation to the root of how the blues came to be. We’re a long way from the root of the blues. What makes the blues so familiar is the structure. It’s a simple structure and a lot of guitarists and budding rockstars tend to learn blues riffs and structures to learn their instrument. It’s a great vibe and many people can relate to it.
Relating to it is the reason why I picked up on today’s choice. Musically speaking. I don’t actually have a kid yet, so I can’t truly relate to the message. I don’t care. I’m swinging my head and dancing with my toes as I type this and that’s what I’m all about. Getting you to move, in some way shape and form.
Is your head bobbing? Have you had a daughter? If either is the case, then this is a song you need to add to your collection – legally of course. Go now!
