In case you hadn’t figured it out (and hopefully you’re back), I was pulling an April Fool’s prank on the site yesterday. Actually I pulled the same event on several things. What was amazing about the whole thing is that I spent several hours on a few phone calls and IM’s with the joke I decided to pull. Thus I would like to thank the many people and fans that were very sincere about their feelings and my phony decision to quit music. It certainly makes me feel like there is some sort of difference that I’m providing the world. ‘Nuff said.
With that, I’m off to a late start on my day as I took a friend out for their birthday last night and I ended up consuming a tad to much alcohol and needed the extra rest. Then I’m in the midst of writing this as a co-writer is waiting upon me to finish the blog for you so we can get to writing a musical gem.
Yael is probably an artist you’ve heard but didn’t know who she was. Why? Well, because of Apple’s wide reaching advertising. Yes, this is the artist that created the little ditty that goes behind the commercial for the MacBook Air. That amazing little computer of diminutive size. I’ve had a chance to play with one and I know full well that it’s a solid little machine that I desire to own. Especially as I’m attempting to par down my carry around weight. Price be damned.
Back to Yael and her tune. This is a classic case of eclectic going gangbusters with a nice and sparse arrangement. I’m not sure I’d have ever thought about putting a Tuba in a song unless it was part of an orchestration I was working on. However, now I’m thinking different. Oh hell ya, I said it. Think different – the Apple motto. One other thing it conjures up is the Tuba scene in LA Story. Never seen it? Go rent it. And if you’ve ever been to Los Angeles you appreciate the movie all the more. I guarantee it.
As for Yael and New Soul. I’m betting you’re now happy to know who it is and have a great way to instantly pick up the song (hint, hint, the iTunes link above). She’s also got an entire CD to go with it. Push that CD link and support the girl that could from France!
p.s. – It will be a cold day in hell if I ever do stop dealing with anything music.
