I’m sure we all dream. At least that’s what science tells us. The difference is that some of us remember or know of our dreams more than others. I know that I don’t have many dreams that I ever wake up remembering. I do have one in a great long while, where I’ll wake up and be like WTF?!? Early this morning was such an occasion.
Somewhere in the early daybreak I became aware of a dream I was having. Let’s see if I can remember more than the gist of it now. First it involved a lot of people I know from school. I was on a trip. I don’t recall if I was on tour or on a vacation of some sort. I believe it was a mash up location of say Las Vegas and San Francisco. Possibly need to sprinkle in London too. Now, it involved people I haven’t seen in a while and some whom I’ve seen in the last few months. One character of the dream is a girl I was crushing on. To my knowledge she’s single and has no kids in real life. In the dream she’s now mom to three kids with a fourth on the way – not married. Very unlike the person I know. Odder still is that I was still crushin’ on her in the dream.
Mix that in with people who were hanging out together that I know wouldn’t hang out together. Add to that the fact that several of these people haven’t seen each in a couple of years. Of course they’re all commenting on how weird it all is that they’re all on some sort of trip and bumping into each other. Then when I feel like I’m about to get to the bottom of all the mishmash I of timely nature wake up. Resulting in a non-resolution. Argh!
Anyone good at interpreting stuff? Care to elaborate on what the hell that all meant?
While I’m being psychoanalyzed I’ll leave you with Edgar Gabriel’s Stringfusion. A group of talented players creating what I would call the next step beyond the direction of Take 5. At the very least it strikes me as being in that vein. There’s a very fluid feel going on here. Not mention a cool RMX style groove that opens the song. I’d say they’ve got a good fusion of modern recording techniques mixed with real humans playing.
I get the feeling this song would work well behind a commercial or a video of some sort. Maybe even as part of a montage in a movie, where there’s a lot of travel going on. Get my connection there? That dream I expounded on and the fact I was somewhere bumping into people I knew… How appropriate that the tune is called Mobile eh?
Can’t get enough of a fusion string instrumental? Then you need to explore more of Edgar’s catalog. Go now! May your days and dreams be an adventure and make sense.
