Who needs a change of pace? We all do at some point don’t we? Maybe that’s why such things as fetish clubs exist. I’ve heard about them. Never pursued them. Have you ever visited one? Would you admit it? I’m curious. I suppose I fulfill my “fetishes” a different way. I’m more interested in music and adventures based on things like mountain biking or skiing/snowboarding.
That’s not to say I don’t enjoy something sexy, or sex. I’m human. You bet I do. There is a line I haven’t crossed and that’s going to some sort of sex club or fetish join. I’m not seeing the appeal of that. Not sure I ever would. I will say it’s fascinating to get a glimpse of it in a movie in a fleeting fashion. Depending on the movie though. Like say Howard Stern’s Private Parts. There’s a scene where a dominatrix is whipping and putting out a cigarette on a guy. That’s funny to me. Not something I’d do, but I find it funny someone would want that.
Then there’s something like the movie Seven. There’s a whole scene in an actual club of some sort that obviously deals with the dark side of sex. Then the apparatus used. Yikes. The fact that someone would dream that up or something like it. Wow. I can watch it. I can understand it. I wouldn’t want to partake in it.
One thing I can say is that for one night you can get out of your shell and do something. A way to experiment. Take Crazy Blind Date, some sort of new dating service in several major cities. Granted the idea is probably a little wacky for most people. But it’s actually an interesting concept. One that I could imagine partaking in. They setup, on short notice, a meeting between to people. You don’t get to see their picture. It is in a public place. It is an adventure. It is a way to be really social. I’m a guy, so that probably takes some of the danger factor away for me. Plus I’m a musician, so I’m used to being in front of people. Provided I can connect with them in some way.
On that note, I recently got a recommendation from one artist to another for Carrie. That’s the great thing about some artists. They’re comfortable enough with their musicality that they can recommend other artists. Kinda like what I’m doing here at Single of the Day. Anyway, I noticed the sultry vibe of Carrie on this song immediately. How can it be missed? Not to mention it makes a perfect backdrop for doing something thoroughly spontaneous. Even if it’s just for tonight, or this afternoon, or this morning.
Lets not forget that the bouncy rhythm is part of the appeal too. Extrapolate your own opinion on that. I think Carrie’s voice is very hip for this sound. I really feel like she’s a visual part like in an old school movie as singer in a jazz club. Dressed to the hilt with one of those strange microphones surrounded in a star shaped band in a circle. That doesn’t stop her or the song from feeling relevant to today.
Go get your night on, your day on, or your freak on. Do get this song to play as part of your soundtrack just for tonight, or for any night you feel that need. It’s on iTunes and ready for your iPod. Or the whole swingy CD.
Cool! I love Carrie Clarks music!
She’s got something going on.
