Nothing like being woken up by a neighbor blasting their music so loud the bass is coming through the ground. Now that is fucking loud. I suppose I wouldn’t have minded so much if it had been good music. I still need to figure out which neighbor it is. Only to ask if they could be more considerate at 9 a.m.
Despite that I can hear the birds chirping out my window. The sun is up. The sky is clear and it’s a great looking day. What to do, what to do, what to do, to fill it up. I’m nearing completion on the whole backup thing. I’ll probably spend it dealing with that. Later I’ve got a buddy coming over to do video clips for a new website that I’ll hopefully be launching next week. Fingers crossed.
Ken Andrews came across my attention somehow, I don’t recall where I heard him first. I will say that I was intrigued by his vibe. Very modern sounding. Like a pop version of the industrial genre, that = modern rock to me. He’s got a slightly more mechanical vibe to his approach. Mechanical in the sense that it’s got sounds that seem like they’d be part of a computer blip and beep ya hear in a show or something. There’s also a hit of folk in there with the samples of fiddle and banjo.
If there is an artist taking music into a next step beyond, I can’t think of a better example. Ken is doing it and doing it very well. I urge you to explore more of his sound. Ken has several versions of the song, and of course several albums. He’s got a whole CD of remixes and another of live versions. Certainly got the material in motion. Bring it to your iPod (legally of course).
Go make a great day of your Saturday.
