All kinds of things happen at night. What happened for your first night into the new year? I spent my last day unwinding from a full day of skiing, sun and altitude. I do miss it. I was chatting with my friend Erin last night about skiing. She used to ski, but hasn’t in a quite a while. Here I am freaking out that I didn’t get a chance to ski last year and that was the first time since I started skiing that I hadn’t gone. I had to make up for it this year. I went four times over my vacation. And I’m figuring out when I can come back to go some more. Of course skiing is a daytime thing, but I know of fun aprés skiing activities.
I certainly have some stories of visiting ski towns and causing a ruckus at night. In many ways. I reserve most of those stories for close friends because some are downright embarrassing. However, I can think of one that I witnessed and didn’t involve me. I was in Jackson Hole Wyoming for a freestyle competition at Snow King. Coldest fucking place I’ve ever been in my life. I remember it was so cold that it was as if I wasn’t wearing all my ski clothing and skiing naked. It was 24 degrees below zero fahrenheit in the sun. Anyway, one night I was walking through town from a party to the condo I was staying in when a car rolled by. It stopped about 20 yards in front of me and someone opened a door and leaned out. They puked. Then slinked back into the car shut the door and drove off. By the time I walked by the mess, it was already frozen. Ick. I was bundled up and near frozen myself.
Mmmm. Nights with significant others where it’s cold out is good for bundling up. Hint, hint. I wonder if Jennifer Siebel and Gavin Newsom ski? I know that Josh Kelley and Katherine Heigl at least got near a ski resort recently. They apparently got married in Deer Valley. You know, that place I’ve been skiing for the past several days. I learned this from my friend Claire. Otherwise I would have been oblivious. I suppose I don’t watch enough Entertainment Tonight. Oh that’s right. I don’t even own a TV.
Well, my day is filled with the trek back to Los Angeles and kicking 2008 in the pants to get on the charts and on the road. I’ll be bored. Got my number? Call.
While you’re thinking of me and my drive which will end late tonight, I’m putting this song in your ear. I came across it last week and for some reason it jumped in my ear. I really liked the intro machine gun vocals with the dense layering of the voices and the harmony. It sounds so retro it’s cool. However, don’t be fooled. It’s apparently brand spankingly recent. Well 2005 recent anyway. Which with the sound it’s pulling down is certainly very recent compared to the era it’s harkening to; the 70’s.
Like many artists I contact Escort was happy and honored to be featured here. What can I say? I like retro. Probably why I like Maroon 5. They brought retro in the modern era, which is kinda what Escort is doing too. I don’t put it past myself as well. It’s the sign of good musicianship to learn about the past, internalize it, then marry it with the present or even invent a new future.
Enjoy the video. Enjoy the song. Add it to your collection legally. They’ll thank ya for it, and so will I.
