Monday morning and I’ve already got my dancing shoes on. Deftly I whip out of bed after being awoken in the middle of the night with a massive itch on my left knee (just in case you cared to know). I couldn’t find any bug bites and I’m thinking it’s a hold over of being way to dry in Utah. Got the Calamine Lotion on it and got back to sleep. TMI right?
A nice warm shower and a big breakfast with my new digs. Then came a quick 45 minute of business calls. So far so boring right? Next step is transferring some stuff to the bus and going around the bus looking for things to update or fix. There’s a grant writer in the works to bring in some flow for the bus for getting on the road. Followed by finishing up a project I started before the holiday vacation. The checking of backed up media in the studio.
My failure rate is still near 50%. That’s horrendously bad for DVD data media. So far CD’s have a failure rate that is non-existent. I stated it before, I will now double check that I can fully download data off of a DVD before it goes into storage. Additionally, I’ll be purchasing hard drives as secondary backup. When I fill one up with final projects, off to the store for another. No more multiple DVD backups, no, I will have multiple formats as well.
My sister just learned the hard way about not backing up. Her hard drive for her music library failed yesterday. She contacted me asking if it was going to be possible to retrieve the files. I asked if she had a backup. The answer was: no. I replied bummer. She made quite a few iTunes purchases as well. Anyone out there with positive results in having to get purchased music from iTunes a second time in case of a failed hard drive? Do you think Kyle Brandt has such issues?
Thus is my daily dance to new music. Cabin is actually not from Britain. Far from it. No, they’re from Kentucky. Not the first place I end up thinking off when it comes to music like this. I’ve put it under a Brit Pop heading as I get a slight inkling that I could hear a more commercial Radiohead or a more intense Coldplay doing something like this. That’s a great thing since Cabin really has a unique sound to me. It’s unique enough without being on the deep end. To me it means that if they can get the exposure they’ll pretty much rule their own sound for a year or so. Much like how I’ve been told I’d be when I hit the big top.
Another great quality I like about it is that I want to hit replay. That’s a fantastic quality for a song to have. When a listener wants to hear it over and over again. I do have to hold myself back to make sure I don’t overplay it and ruin it for myself. Can you feel that passion?
I could actually envision Apple doing a more eclectic iPod advertisement with this song and people dancing around town with an iPod and this song blasting in their ears. Now that’s a commercial a lot of people could enjoy. May Cabin go forth and find that success.
Speaking of iPods. Do you think Macworld will contain new Apple gear for music, or monitors, or iPods? Well, maybe not iPods just yet as they got updated a couple of months ago, but iPhones I would think will get updated. Go forth and add this song to your legal music collection – buy it and dance along with me.
Thank you that was great. I have not danced in a long time.
stay up , my man you got it going.even for this old lady.
Good to hear it got you moving. That’s the intent.
