If you’re into Christmas then you likely have dreams of the stuff Santa would bring you. Do you still get excited? Or has the luster worn off? Obviously once you get past say the age of 16, it’s likely that you’re not running through the house screaming. Unless Santa brought you a car for your 16th Christmas – then you’d consider running through the house screaming.
Parents do wonderful things for their kids for the holidays. At least mine did. Of course it was even better when my parents decided to move back to where most of the family resided. It meant having at least three Christmas events in a day. Like triple the fun. Yet it’s still the first one of the day that we remember as kids. You’re not old enough to drink coffee so your mom or dad makes hot chocolate. The smell wafts through the house and by the crack of dawn you’re thinking where’s those toys under the Christmas tree. Of course you’re running with sleep in your eyes, hoping you don’t trip on yourself racing to see what’s happened in the night.
Santa was fairly smart at our house. He’d lay out the gifts not only under the tree, but each person would get stuff in their stocking. And… a whole part of the living room would be dedicated to one person. Like a little camp of goodies.
That initial rush of toy heaven is a feeling that I can extrapolate to the excitement of being with someone you care about. The idea is you would hopefully always get that little rush whenever they walk into the room. Kinda like a daily Christmas gift for you, only it’s every time you see her/him. I’m hoping you have that special someone with you this holiday season. Do you think Brad Pitt gets that feeling for Angelina? Or visa versa?
In case you caught yesterday’s post and decided to follow the links, you likely heard this song playing on the podcast I was describing. Here it is in all it’s glory, along with all the links you could want to add it to your collection. Hint, hint.
Interestingly, as I listened to the song on Grant’s podcast it actually made me think wow, that’s really cool. It gives a good feeling as an uptempo Christmas number to gauge that rush you get for Christmas – and for your special someone. Right? Which means it’s actually a good idea to step away from something and come back at it with fresh ears. Perspective and context, that’s what I got from Grant’s use of the song. It should be the anthem for all people excited and in love at Christmas.
Oh, and since I’m bringing holiday cheer. What would you like Santa Jody to bring for you?
