I think I’m finding that it takes a little while to sit on a plateau working shit out in your head or bouncing things off of people before you can move on. Or before you can move really big things in your life, those mountains. Last night I spent some time with an old friend who now lives in Berkeley, CA. It was the process of catching up and talking about other friends that she mentioned something that made sense to me. It prompted me to additionally take further steps to correct things that I’ve been neglecting. Thus this morning I sent a message to another friend – it will be interesting to hear what the response will be.
I’m enjoying my last day of vacation around the Thanksgiving holiday. Chilling, hanging, thinking, relaxing, funning, watching. One of those things that I’ve wanted to do is really conquer a place like Everest or K2. It ranks up there with my mountain biking excursion from Canada to Mexico across the Rockies. I haven’t done as much research in terms of attacking a mountain the size of Everest. I’m guessing it likely takes somewhere in the neighborhood of about 6 weeks. I’m sure at some point in the not so distant future I’ll be looking into it.
Today’s song was a collaboration between myself and Jeff Van Dyck. He worked with me on a song called We’d Like To Wish You, which is a Christmas song. Jeff came to me with the music wanting someone to write some words and melody. The reason why I chose to be a mountain pushing back at climbers is beyond me. Could be that I don’t think I had heard of a song being from the perspective of a natural object towards humans. Being that I’m into nature, it was something I may have been destined to do.
Musically speaking Jeff is a master of very amazing ideas. I’ve been privy to hearing and working on some very cool things with Jeff. He’s considered one of the best producers in video game soundtracks. Won several awards as well. I feel lucky to have done some work on a few video games for him. That’s right, my guitar playing has appeared on some video games that have been released around the world.
While we’ve never actually finished this song, I have played it for a few people now and then. I get the same reaction most of the time. Telling me how cool it is. I’m usually under the impression it’s the music and not the lyrics. Either way, I figured I’d unleash it here. Do tell what you think…
