I got exposed last night to a story that was more or less extremely thought provoking. The story was written over 20 years ago and it was recently turned into a movie. It’s about finding inner strength. Way of The Peaceful Warrior was the story in question. Now that I’ve seen the movie I will have to go get the book to read it. Since yesterday’s post was about falling down and getting back up, it’s sort of appropriate that that movie/story finished off my day and my week.
If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s not going to kill you to rent it. It’s less about the quality of the movie. It’s more about the power of the message. I’m sure the book probably is much more powerful. Hence the reason I’m going to the seek the book out. Not to mention that it falls in line with recent traits I’ve picked up on in my own writing of music. Interestingly enough Mark Luna and I have named our little co-writing team Road To Zen. It’s all about that journey.
Kelsey Wild reminded me of Sarah McLachlan in turn that led me here.
Of all the McLachlan material that I’ve heard and I own, this one song is my ultimate favorite of hers. Yes, I have more than one CD of hers. There’s is something about the vibe of this song that resonates within. The oddity of it is that it’s a minor melody with a happy bouncy feel in the percussion loop. That’s weird. Generally it’s not something that would work, but somehow it’s flowing here.
Lots of people spend time going round and round in circles. Part of that process is falling down and getting back up. When we break the mold, make modifications, and listen to the world around us, that’s when we have a breakthrough. That’s a major point to Peaceful Warrior. It’s that zen-like feeling to life. To pay attention. I’ve been accused of being overly observant. I don’t know how observant I really am, but I do like detail in lots of things. Which goes back to my post about me and my buddy and quality over quantity.
We all run in circles now and then. Some of us more than others. It happens because we’re human.
If you need a circular break, this a good song to have to flow in a different direction. Get it now.
(** Disclaimer: If Sarah’s label decides to start running me in circles, I’ll have to whip the audio off the server. The post will remain to show how some threads run in life. **)
