It’s creeping up on us. That infamous end of the month that means all things scary! Moments of fright, terror, creatures of evil doings, it’s for fun. How did that happen? At what point did we turn fright into a business of entertainment? Isn’t that weird. I love it. It’s always good to get a jolt now and then. What about people who can’t stand the jolt? What do they do?
Also, how did trick or treating get started? It’s a little odd that fright, terror and scary things get associated with candy. Curiously enough associating evil with candy does nothing to stop people from buying and consuming it. Am I the only one that thinks that is weird?
I’m a fan of horror movies. I’m not a die-hard know every horror movie ever made type, but I have seen a good portion of them. The Halloween movie came out rather early this year. I viewed it. The ultimate though is the local DVD rental store. Lots of movies from decades past that can be rented and poured over for the horror pleasures that fill our fantasies. The whole Halloween series, Friday the 13th, The Shining, Audrey Rose, Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Day, Dawn of the Dead, Shawn of the Dead, etc… Yes, funny horror movies too.
Speaking of funny horror. Today’s choice is the Halloween episode of a podcast called The Radio Adventures of Doctor Floyd. It’s been an on going podcast for several years now. As you can hear, it’s a bit like say Rocky & Bullwinkle meets Mr. Peabody or something. That’s how it was presented to me when I was asked to create the musical cues for the show. The show itself has been nominated for and won several awards. It has appeared on the top 100 of all podcasts at iTunes. It’s syndicated via several other podcasts as well. It’s a very cool thing.
The mastermind behind this fun filled opus is Grant. In case you don’t know, Grant also masterminds Throwing Toasters too. In addition he is currently reducing his life down to 600 things. Yeah, that guy. The podcast itself is free for those who can wait. But if you want to be on the cutting edge of Doctor Floyd you can join Imagination Nation which gives you early access to the show. In addition you get other goodies too. Got Kids? Then you want this. Also, it would be a cool thing if you really loved it, to purchase the old seasons on disc. Kinda like getting the season of a TV show on DVD’s only different.
Now go get scary!
Jody,
OMG, you should have told me to drop some acid before I listened. WOW, lol.
Have a good one,
Paul
Well that wouldn’t be a great thing for children now. 🙂
