Oh the subject of moving…
More specifically moving a life or business from one location to another. The joys of packing, hauling, unpacking. I wasn’t referring to me doing it. Though I know I will move at some point from my current dwelling. No, I’m referring to a friend of mine who took on a job of moving an office of computers from one location to another in the city of Beverly Hills. Since he was short handed and I had a little free time. I decided I’d help. It’s one of those things that helps keep a person grounded. We all need a little grounding from time to time.
What’s funny is that we got hassled by the building security. They told him it’s not allowed to move during regular business hours. That’s a new one on me. However, we were instructed by others to ignore security and keep moving. So we did. I thing I’ve always known is that it’s a good idea to plan ahead. Something my buddy didn’t do. Thus it took us longer than it should have to make the move. But we got through it and everything turned out alright.
There used to be a time when MTV stood for Music TV. They’d play music videos and talk about relevant music news. I used to watch growing up at my ‘rents house. Obviously I don’t watch much MTV, or any TV for that matter as I don’t own one. Yes, that’s by choice. What I do know about MTV now is that it’s very little about music anymore. Maybe it ought to be RTV or NTV (Reality-style TV, or Non-music TV). The dream was to be in a band and get your video on MTV. That meant you were awesome, especially if your video was cool.
Since I did some moving and I’m longing for good videos to go with music, I found this version of Dire Straits anthem to MTV – Money For Nothing. It speaks for itself. Not to mention Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitarists in rock history. I feel for you if you don’t own this CD. It’s fantastic as is Love Over Gold. Explore the past you might actually find some real gems.
