It’s said that every passing moment gives us a chance to turn everything around. That’s extremely true. Attitude has a lot to do with everything in how someone views the world. If you have a negative outlook then obviously the world is going to look dark, things won’t go right, and you generally won’t have fun. If you have a positive outlook obviously the world is going to look bright, things will often do the way you want, and generally you’ll have a good time. For me right now I’m in a positive state. I’ve finished a new song. So far every one that’s heard it has had really liked it.
Getting to the point of being finished isn’t always easy. Often times while creating a song especially during the recording process, the mixing, the mastering, it’s easy to lose sight of why I create something. Maybe not so much lose sight of but rather question if I’m going in the right direction. Feedback can be a musician’s worst enemy. Actually any artists worst enemy. Smiles and happiness is the status on this new song.
I have to wonder if an artist like Sting still feels like creating a song is like giving birth. While I’ll never know what giving birth is really like, I can certainly equate creating a song to that process. It can be demanding, draining, exhilarating, and exciting. Let’s just say that I went through the gamut creating Hero Unexpected. You’ll get a chance to hear it soon enough.
Since I’m done with this song I feel like I’m starting a brand-new day. I have several of Sting’s CDs. From the police to his solo stuff. There is a definite transition between those two facets of his career. There’s no doubt about his amazing musicianship. He has an uncanny knack for writing amazing melodies and coupling them with fantastic chord progressions with slick bass playing. I think it would be interesting to be a fly on the wall during one of his writing sessions, don’t you?
It would be hard to believe that you don’t own this song, or that you might not own any of staying this music. If this is the case you need to change that right now.
(** Disclaimer: If Sting’s label decides to give me a dark new day, I’ll have to expel the audio from the server. The post will remain to show my happy outlook on a new song. **)
