Work, work, work.
Play, play, play.
That’s what it seems to be all about right?
Since I missed a deadline that I had set for last Friday, I ended up spending a bit of time working over the whole weekend. But it was good work. I got a great song that’s nearly mixed and ready to be showcased to the world. I’m going through the stages of listening to the mix on different speaker setups, making notes, and tweaking, tweaking, tweaking. Most likely by midday tomorrow I’ll have it just right and ready to send off to be mastered.
Once it’s mastered I can turn around and get it to two different people that have a connection to the TV show Heroes. Then comes the cross the fingers moment that it’s received well enough to be put into the show. That’s the intent. We shall see.
Today after I got a mix done I decided to hop in the car and go visit some friends at Hermosa Beach. It was time to let off a little. Relax the ears. Refresh the mind from music. That’s my lazing on a Sunday afternoon.
I recently finished this song with a co-writer that I have written a few songs with. His name is Johnny Elkins. We were put into a writing situation a couple of years ago when I was invited to something called the Oneness Organization. We had an afternoon to write a song about peace in the world, or something related. What came out that day between Johnny, a woman named Lindy Robbins, and myself was a song called Angel In Disguise. Come to think of it, I should put that up on Single of the Day. Lindy sang it great and it’s a catchy tune.
One thing thing that strikes me is how some people will react to a song. For today’s song (You’re the One), the man who mastered it called me yesterday to tell me it was all done and mastered. In addition he said, dude – both my wife and I think this is a hit song. It’s catchy as hell. That’s a pretty nice compliment. Don’t know what to say to that other than, I certainly hope he’s right. It would be great to see the song get some traction and go somewhere.
How about you? Do you dig the song?
