Comfort is probably synonymous with Southern California. Comfort in that the temperature is damn consistent most of the time. We’ll get the occasional hot splash and the sometimes the occasional cool splash. This morning was one of those occasional cool splashes. It was enough of a cool splash for me to at least take notice.
Stuff like that helps me to change focus. Which is right in line with a lot of changes I’ve been making recently. Cooler temperatures also make me long for snow, skiing, and hot chocolate. Mmmmm. Love the life of skiing. Funny that I’ve recently been offered a chance to become a professional ski instructor. Definitely something that I wouldn’t mind doing for a season. Wouldn’t it be even more hilarious if I’m out touring for a while, then get a gig as a part time ski instructor teaching peeps how to ski in 3D, then have someone recognize a “rockstar” as their ski instructor. Well… I think it’s funny.
Of course in most parts of the world when the temperature starts to drop and it gets chilly, the leaves on the trees will change wonderful colors. While it happens here in Los Angeles, its usually not until like mid-December. The colors aren’t as colorful either. Usually they only brown up and fall off. Unlike say the mountains of Utah where you get an intense array of colors. It’s actually worth it to fly to such a region like that in the fall to see the colors.
Speaking of leaves. Here’s a tune I came across. I’ve never actually heard of Billy Talent before, but hey I’m open to new things. While the music is a polar opposite of the memories I have of fall and leaves coming down, it’s still a good song. In fact, I’m kinda surprise he hasn’t popped a little farther up the radar. It could very well be because he has a real deep influence of Green Day, whether he likes the reference or not. Actually I could envision him opening up for them on a tour. Who knows.
It’s a crisp song with the storyboard angst that comes with the punk pop style. The style which Green Day has commandeered and mastered. Essentially they became the kings that an artist like Billy has to either join, veer away from, or dethrone. Otherwise, it’s a mighty long shadow to live behind. It would seem his label needs to do a bit more on the promotional front to make sure he gets the visibility he should deserve.
(** Disclaimer: If Billy’s Label decides to pull me from the tree, I’ll have to uproot the video link from the page. The post will remain to show that I’m happy to see some changes going on around me. **)
