There was a time when something like the Exorcist was supposed to be very very very very very very very very very scary many times over. I didn’t see it when it originally came out in theaters. Would have been a tad difficult to see. But as any teen who’s into scary stuff does, they rent the movies when parents are out of town. That’s what I did. So I saw it at home with my best friend. when you’re like 15 that’s some pretty scary stuff right there.
They rereleased it a couple of years back, it wasn’t so scary. In fact, it was almost laughable by today’s standards. Still some of the special effects held up well. In addition though, I know better now. It’s not real. So it’s not as scary going in knowing that.
I also saw Exorcist III as well. I kinda thought maybe it would actually be good as the pre-story to everything. It ended up being a waste of several hours of time. I don’t recommend that one.
What’s odd is when watching the movie, I don’t remember the full theme. Hell, I’m not even sure Mike Oldfield is the original composer or artist. However I found this and I remember the melody. I guess it’s much scarier with the images on the screen. What’s weird is that there is a bunch of major melodies toward the end. Which makes me think of the ending of the movie which is sorta upbeat.
So I present today’s song for all the people getting into the spirit of Halloween. May your head not spin around. May you not puke green gook and walk like a spider upside-down and backwards. Do have fun though!
(** Disclaimer: If Mike’s label decides to haunt me with demons, I’ll have to exorcise the audio from the server. The post will remain to show I have Halloween spirit. **)
