Well I did it. I went to see the assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford last night. My prediction is that the movie will probably not do extremely well at the box office but it is an absolutely fantastic movie. It reminds me of the methods of filmmaking that I was taught when I went to university. Concise dialogue, Long scenes, and really good acting. I have the feeling that Brad Pitt should get a nomination for his performance in this movie.
At two hours and forty minutes this is a very long movie for the average audience. If you’re into westerns this is a movie not to miss. It’s a fascinating look into what is supposed to be the final year of the life of Jesse James. Because of the length, you need to be sure the you can do the distance.
Speaking of going the distance… this morning I ran a little over ten miles. For some reason I have been able to run further and further in the past two weeks. I’m not complaining. But it sure takes up by a little bit more time in my morning. It’s a great way to start the morning. It can also be that I’m finally coming out of my funk.
Being that I’m in a western type mood I had to go with something country today. Therefore its Travis Tritt to the rescue. Just like the title of the song you can’t count me out yet. Although the movie is much more authentic to its western roots this song still has that vibe lyrically that comes across for not only the song but also for the fact that I’m running further distances. I can thank an ex girlfriend by the name of Claire for bringing Travis to my attention. Beyond that I really don’t know lot about Travis.
Life have you down? Don’t forget never count yourself out just yet.
(** Disclaimer: If Travis’ label decides they want to count me out, then I’ll have to exonerate the audio from the server. The post will remain to show that I really like the old west and Jesse James. **)
