Bob Marley.
That’s a statement in an of itself. When you say Bob Marley it generally instantly means a relaxing rasta time. It’s also a statement to fight for your rights. While I don’t smoke the weed, I don’t look down on those who do. Something that gets associated all the time with Bob and reggae in general.
Depending on where you attend university (or college) there might be a bigger culture that gravitates toward the style of Bob. It was fairly prevalent at the University of Utah. It’s also pretty popular at several universities in Colorado. Must be a environmental thing, or a result of those ‘tree-hugger’ types. While I’m all for being natural and doing my part to reduce a footprint on the environment, I’m not knee deep in the look of it. Not sure that even makes sense.
I’m not extremely well versed in all that is Bob. But I can appreciate his indelible mark that was left on the music world as a whole. There’s not a fraternity party that I can think of where two artists weren’t played. That would be Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley. There should be a study done on that. I bet there could be some interesting correlations made on that subject and said university subculture.
One message that can be drawn from today’s song is that you have to soldier on in the face of adversity. Survive. Are you surviving? Holding on? Or living life to it’s fullest?
That’s how I view what I’m doing right now as it comes to this process I’m going through with the funding to get out on tour. It’s still a waiting game. The wait goes on and on and on and on.
(** Disclaimer: If Bob’s label decides to come marching after me, I’ll have to shoot the audio off the server. The post will remain to show that Bob permeates some wonderful places and hopefully it will eventually permeate the aggressive government we’ve currently got. **)
