If you’re like most people chances are you’re not going to see this post unless you’ve been unable to get out of work. Either that or you’re not actually going to be traveling this weekend. It’s one of those big travel weekends. Generally a 3 day holiday, unless you split today then it’s a 4 day holiday.
Thus if you’re reading this, I’m like you, not going somewhere today. Instead, I’ll probably be hitting the theater to catch a movie and stay inside out of the heat. I’m pretty tolerant of a wide range of temperature. I like cold because I’m into skiing. I like warm, borderline hot. However, once it gets past 100 degrees Fahrenheit, or 37 degrees Celsius then it’s literally a waste of excess heat. It becomes intolerable to me. It’s difficult to exercise. It’s harder to breath. Clothing sticks to you, etc. It’s not pleasant. Just like going much below say 20 degrees Fahrenheit or -7 degrees Celsius. At that point it’s starting to get a bit cold.
The coldest I’ve been subjected to was about -20 degrees Fahrenheit (-29 Celsius) in the sunshine at Snow King in Jackson Hole Wyoming. It was so fucking cold I could feel the air through my ski suit and all the layers I was wearing under it. That was pretty damn cold and miserable. The only reason I had to do it was for a freestyle competition. The hottest I’ve ever experienced was about 120 Fahrenheit (49 Celsius) in an outdoor situation. I know that inside a car on a day like that it will be a tad warmer, but you can cool it down via AC in a relatively small time. In that kind of heat, it’s like I want to shut down.
Whatever your plan for the weekend, I hope it’s filled with good times.
Enjoy the video from this band. I vaguely remember them, however it doesn’t matter cause I love the song. I don’t care if it’s from a cheesy era of the music world, 80’s pop. I’m glad I got to miss most of it due to being young. Because Mr. Mister is no longer around I’ll consider them a Fallen Friday. I’m not sure how popular they really were, but I do know they had two big hits off this CD. This being one of them.
Another good reason is the style, or rather the lack there of. I’m not keen on 80’s style, but hey, what can ya do. They had it, and it was what was hot at the time. I wonder if the concept of super tight jeans, and acid wash will ever come back into vogue. One can only hope it won’t. However, good songwriting and catchy hooks probably never go out of style. Hmmm… That gets me to thinking. Maybe I ought to consider a modern version of the song.
