Monday morning. Probably going to be one of the longest Monday’s in my life. Pins and needles. Chinese water torture or something along those lines whilst I wait for the phone call to complete the process that began on friday.
I do have a couple of things to accomplish to take my mind of it in the meantime. One has to do with setting some things straight with my house. The other is a writing session with a friend who I’ve written a couple of songs with. I think our goal is to write for a TV show soundtrack or something. I suppose I’ll find out the exact target when he shows up. That is unless I get the phone call today to go sign my name on some paper.
Oh, I’ve got a question… Does anyone know how to get some sort of sticky oil like residue off of clothing? I ended up sitting on a sawed off telephone pole yesterday and it left some sticky black residue on my nice new mountain bike shorts. I’ve tried washing them twice, soaking them with soap on the gook and so far no luck at getting it off. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. I can’t wait to get it off the shorts.
So much waiting…
This is by far and away my most favorite song Seal has done. He has some really great songs, but for some reason this one here is so amazing. It’s one of those songs where I wish I had thought of it, I wish I had written it, I wish I was the one. Alas, it t’was not to be. Good thing I can still appreciate what Seal has created. Usually when I listen to this song, I have to start it over and hear it at least twice anytime I hear it.
Could it be the urgency in the feel? Maybe. Could it be how the verse builds so powerfully into the Chorus? Maybe. Could it be the non-standard song structure? Maybe. Could it be the instrumental build toward the end? Maybe. Could it be the ubër funky rhythm? Maybe. Could it be the little chunks of instruments that are all piled together to create the chords? Maybe. Could it be that I tend to hear a different little noise in the mix every time I hear it? Maybe. The answer is that I’m likely enjoying the combination of everything that contributes to the whole. Do you? The jump on it if you haven’t got it. Now!
(** Disclaimer: If Seal’s label decides to put me to task about waiting, I’ll have to jump the gun and wipe the audio off the server. The post will remain to show that I’m growing antsy in my quest. **)
